While there isn't much information about the individual personalities of each music note, their role in the film is to "help guide [Melody's] moral compass in more ways than one".
History[]
The exact origins of the seven music notes are unknown.
Relationships[]
Melody[]
Melody is the owner of the seven music notes.
Cole[]
One concept art features the music notes cuddling with Cole, implying that they all see him as their friend.
Abilities[]
The music notes can fly and levitate simultaneously. They can even carry things that weigh more than them, such as a comb without much struggle.
Based on early concept art, the music notes would allow Melody to create magic whenever she sings.
Trivia[]
- As the film drew inspiration from Snow White, the music notes parallel the seven dwarves from the original fairy tale. Like the dwarves, the music notes are fantasy creatures who are allies with the titular main character.
- The music notes were created during the film's early development from 2015 to 2016. They first appeared in concept art when Melody was originally planned to be transformed into a bird by Rose Stellar.
- While it's unknown what are the origins of the music notes, early pieces of concept art indicated that they came from a forest outside of New York City.
- The music notes being major characters in the film were confirmed in Angie Nasca's artwork on March 5, 2019. They were depicted alongside other magical creatures who are allies to major characters from ZAG's other intellectual properties; the artwork includes five of the music notes with seven main kwamis from Miraculous: Tales of Ladybug & Cat Noir and a bug from Pixie Girl.[1]
- According to Melody's voice actress Katy Perry, the character relying on the seven music notes to make friends in New York City is inspired by Perry's life experience with moving out of her small hometown to a big city.[2]
