Based on the latest character model created for the film, Melody has long strawberry-blonde hair with rose gold highlights. She also has blue eyes.[4]

Melody is a "kindhearted, insecure yet prodigious singer".[5] She is said to be a dreamer with a passion for music, "but she doesn't believe in her voice [nor] see herself as star material".

As seen in various concept art, Melody idolizes Rose Stellar and has posters of the "Queen of Pop" in her bedroom.
According to an early synopsis of the film, Melody would get an unexpected visit from Rose Stellar while playing music at the park. However, Melody learns that her idol is a wicked pop singer who is jealous of her musical talent and wants to destroy her.[5]
According to Jeremy Zag during an interview for Behind the Lens Online on August 2023, Melody would discover that Rose Stellar is secretly a witch.[6]
Music notes[]
Various pieces of concept art depict Melody being friends with the seven magical music notes, similar to the likes of Snow White and the seven dwarves.
It's currently unknown how she would meet the music notes in the film.
Cole[]
Melody will team up with Cole, a "fearless optimist" who will help her improve her self-confidence throughout the film.[5]

The first design for Melody when she originally depicted with blonde hair.
- Melody's name is of Greek origin, meaning "music" or "song".
- Before the film's production, Melody went through different hair colors during development.
- From 2015 to early to mid 2016, she was originally designed with long golden blonde hair and wore it either loose or in a low ponytail. One concept art depicted her with blonde hair with hot pink tips.
- She was later depicted with light bubblegum pink hair and wore it in a ponytail from mid-2016 to 2020. One concept art depicted her with green eyes instead of blue.
- An early character model was created in 2019, which depicted Melody with hot pink hair. Her eyes were also depicted as cerise instead of blue.
- Melody shares the same name as Melodie, a character who was going to appear in Miraculous: Tales of Ladybug & Cat Noir. Despite Melody originally having blonde hair in early development and both girls having music motifs in their designs, they are separate characters.
- In Melody's original design, she wore a white dress that was inspired by Odette from Swan Lake.
- As part of the Swan Lake motif, four pieces of concept art depicted Melody transformed into a bird, presumably by Rose Stellar. However, because the concept art was created from 2015 to 2016, it's unknown if her bird transformation would be kept in the final version.
- A figurine prototype for Melody was created in June 2016.[9]
- Because Melody was originally part of the "ZAG Princess" (later "ZAG Power Princess") label, this indicates that the titular character was originally going to be depicted as an actual princess. However, the character is now seen as a metaphorical "princess" of the story since it contains fairy tale motifs with Melody inspired by Snow White.
- As part of the idea of Melody originally being a princess, she was depicted with a crown on her head in the leaked animatic reel in 2017.[10]
- Melody was originally depicted as having the ability to enchant animals with her singing voice. This might be a reference to the Disney version of Snow White who first appeared in the 1937 film Snow White and the Seven Dwarves.
- It's unknown how old Melody would be in the film. According to Jeremy Zag during the 2022 Licensing Expo, Melody said to be "a young artist" who is already a popstar "adored by her fans".[11]
- During an interview with Debbie Elias for Behind the Lens Online on August 2023, Jeremy described Melody as a "little girl" but she is homeless.[12]
- Assuming she was written to reflect Katy Perry's journey to becoming a famous pop singer, then Melody is likely in her late teens.
- The 2022 synopsis for the film revealed that Melody is trying to "keep a promise" for someone.[5]
