- His name was later revealed on the official ZAG website in September 2022.
- An unnamed boy is featured in three pieces of concept art during the film's early development. However, it's currently unconfirmed if the boy is an early iteration of Cole.
- One concept art features Melody and the boy having a romantic dance in the sky, indicating that he was planned to be her love interest in the film.
- Another concept art features the boy watching Melody singing to the woodland animals in the forest. Though, only the outline of the boy was shown.
- The third concept art features the boy playing guitar and singing with Melody and a female friend in a vocal trio.
- Assuming Cole was created late in the film's development and right before production, it's currently unknown if he would be Melody's love interest or a platonic friend.
